Bicycle Route

Bicycle route from Darmstadt to Heidelberg

Since the 24th September 2007, there has been a further Bergstrasse highlight! The Bergstrasse, the so-called pearl chain of cities and villages from Darmstadt to Heidelberg, has been supplemented by a continuous bicycle track. It is 85 kilometres long and winds along the touristic and culture-historical highlights of "Germany’s Tuscany".

The Bergstrasse Bicycle Route, to be recognised by the logo of the tourism service "die bergstrasse", is clearly marked with kilometre specifications and may be individually cycled on: from north to south and vice versa. The starting or ending point can be found at Luisenplatz in Darmstadt or "an der Alten Brücke" – "at the Old Bridge" in Heidelberg. This exciting track is interesting for everyone who wishes to experience this beautiful landscape individually and in harmony with nature.

This newly developed bicycle route brochure enables everyone to plan, according to her/his conditions, her/his favourite routes, calculate the distance lengths and find amazing touristic highlights.

Why not do the route in stages? Take advantage of the favourable railway connections and the high number of overnight accommodation!
